7th grade Language arts Mrs. dollar First Day of School 7th grade Language arts Mrs. dollar

Class rules Raise your hand to be called on Be respectful of the people around you and their ideas. Do not get up without permission When the teacher talks, pencils down, unless instructed otherwise Try your best, if you fail, ask for help. No question is dumb Have patience

Class setup In the back you will find all the resources you need, if something is missing ask the teacher There are chairs specifically for the Writer’s Workshop, do not ask to sit in those. We will use them when I am back from maternity leave. If you sit on them without permission you will get a strike. The “STUDENT CENTER” is designated for you to turn your papers in the basket to the left labeled “turn it in”. The basket to the right says “graded”, this is where the teacher will place any and all graded papers and it is YOUR responsibility to pick it up. No class time will be wasted turning things in and handing it back out.

Class setup continued The bin labeled “take a zero” is a form you will be required to fill out if after 2 weeks you have not completed an assignment and the teacher has met with you to discuss the missing work. You will receive a missing work form from the teacher a week prior to filling this out. The bin labeled “request to retest” is for when you have made below an 80 on a Major test (not quiz or assignment) and you would like to retake it. The form must be filled out to its entirety and given to the teacher who will schedule a retest date if you met all retest requirements on the sheet.

Class setup continued The bin labeled “required forms” will house any school documents you missed out on while absent or lost The final bin labeled “ticket-out-the-door” are for the specific times you have something to fill out prior to leaving, like an exit slip. You will be reminded when you have this and where to put it. On the STUDENT CENTER wall is a group of folders and beside it labeled “MISS A DAY?” This is where you will find any handouts for that week you may have missed, it is YOUR responsibility to go back to that wall before class starts and find the day you are out and grab what you are missing. The folders are changed out weekly.

Class setup continued The bookcase with “WRITE” above it is where your writing and reading notbooks are housed. You will place them in the bin by your class period. The “Supply Center” book case has any supplies you will need until I come back. I will replace things every 9 weeks. These supplies are bought with my own money to assist you if you forget your materials that day. This is not something you should need every day. Once the supplies are gone they will not be replenished until the 9 weeks is up. Be responsible and have integrity to take things only when you are in severe need. The bookcase with “READ” above it is my class library, you have full access to the books but must sign in and sign out with the book which is left ontop of the case. Most of these books I bought so again treat with respect. Put the book back in the same position you found it.
