Something about The Prešov Region is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions and consists of 13 districts and 666 municipalities, from which 23 have a town status. The region was established in 1996 and is the most populous of all the regions in the country. It's administrative center is the city of Prešov.

It is located in the north-eastern Slovakia and has an area of 8,975 km². The region has a predominantly mountainous landscape. The subdivisions of Tatras - High Tatras and Belianske Tatras lie almost entirely in the region and include the highest point of Slovakia - Gerlachovský štít (2,654 ASL). Other mountain ranges and highlands in the region are Šarišská vrchovina, Čergov, Ondavská vrchovina, Slanské vrchy, Pieniny, Levoča Hills, Laborecká vrchovina, Bukovské vrchy, Vihorlat Mountains and Eastern Slovak Lowland.

History of Presov region Presov region is called Saris region too. The origin of the name of the Saris today knows with precision. It is believed that he used, roughly in the period r. p. n. l. 1000 and perhaps already in the halstate in the language of an unknown but substantial ethnicity, which lived here. In the language of the Celts, who inhabited the territory of the Former before and at the beginning of a.d. root "Shar-d" marked a steep, sharp (perhaps dominant šarišská castle mountain?). This would explain the derivation of the name of Prešov (Eperješ), which,in Celtics language"e-phreš" means a fresh new (newly established settlements close to the "old“ castle Saris?).

There is company in Šariš region which make a beer which is named by that region.

Sights of the Presov region Metropolis of that region is Prešov which is the biggest town in that region. There you can see historical centrum in the town.

Then there is “Kalvária“ it is Barok complex from the 18.st.
