A pencil and a hard surface to use for completing music worksheets such as a 3 ring binder used in another class, spiral note book used in another class, composition book used in another class, or a clipboard. 5/12/2019 Daily Agenda

Q&A page 2 3. When will my child need an instrument? Students will learn about and try all the band instruments during the first 3 weeks of school. I will guide them in selecting an instrument that they will enjoy and have great success playing. I will contact you to let you know the instrument and you can order your instrument online with our rental company. I will send home details of how to order your child’s instrument. 4. What else will my child need for band? A. After selecting the instrument you will need to purchase the Tradition of Excellence Book 1 from me for $11.00 (please make checks payable to YMS). 5/12/2019 Daily Agenda

I will teach your child how to care and clean their instrument. Music Time (904-696-9882) is our local music store. They will take care of any needed instrument repairs. C. Grading Standards 25% Class Participation Students need to bring their instrument, band book, and music daily to school and back home daily. 25% Weekly Playing Test Students will play the song everyday for 2 weeks before the test 5/12/2019 Daily Agenda

Grading Standards 25% Weekly Practice Report 10-15 minutes each day Each Thursday parents must sign their child’s practice report. Students hand in the practice report each Friday for full credit. Fair Share $50.00 per band student Used to fund the band program – music, music stands, music supplies, etc. A YMS Band Car Wash is provided for your child to raise the $50.00 by selling 10 car wash tickets at $5.00 per ticket. Typical Day in Band Bring your instrument and band book to the band room as soon as you arrive at YMS. During band class students will complete daily written work and perform on their instruments.
