Hyenas’ Appearance They can be striped or they can be spotted. Their claws are about 1 inch long. Their eyes are many different colors. Hyenas are about 3 feet tall.

Hyenas’ Hunting Their prey is gazelles, zebra and lion Lions are hyenas arch enemies, but when it comes to fighting the lion usually wins Hyenas use their fur to blend in with things so their prey will not see them Hyenas can kill a dog in a single bite

Hyenas’ habitat They live in Africa They use the high grass so their prey does not see them There is so many animals in Africa that they never run out of food

Hyenas’ Behavior Hyenas sometimes can act like dogs. They hunt during the night and day. They usually stay in their den.

Hyenas’ life They have lived more than 10 million years. The striped Hyena is known for its strong bite. By 10-12 million years ago, the hyena family had split into two groups: dog-like hyenas and bone crushing hyenas. The dog like hyena got wiped out by the weather so now there is only bone crushing hyenas
