The project main idea is to raise funds that will go into sponsoring 3 girls from Sudan, Burkina Faso, and India for 3 years. We partnered with Plan International USA, which is a global humanitarian organization that has been working with in need children and their families for over 70 years. PlanUSA implements programs in 50 developing countries. The Because I am a Girl campaign is not just about the unique inequalities and obstacles faced by girls in developing countries. It's about highlighting that the best way to break the intergenerational poverty cycle is through proper investment in girls' development. Investing in girls has a large development impact on their families & future children, with long-term benefits for poverty reduction & economic growth. The sponsorship for one child costs $30 a month, which is the amount determined by PlanUSA. Therefore, the total cost for 3 children in 3 years is $3240, which is the amount we are looking to raise. We will aim to raise this amount of money by marketing for the cause of our project on campus by selling T-shirt and approaching various organizations on and off campus by reaching out to companies that would be interested in contributing to the cause. What is Because I am a Girl ? Project Objectives The main objective of this project to follow the global initiative of Plan International, Because I am a Girl creates sustainable projects in developing countries to give girls access to the most basic of human rights: clean water, food, healthcare, education, financial security, and protection from violence and exploitation. We wanted our project to contribute to this global effort by sponsoring three girls and give them the access to these basic rights. Therefore, our objective is to raise $3240 that will sponsor the girl for three years. Plan of Action Our plan in executing the project consists of two major aspects that are integrated: raising awareness about the current conditions in India, Burkina Faso, and Sudan, which will be accomplished by promoting for the cause to raise money for it on and off campus. Our promotion strategy consists of selling T-shirts in table settings that we can reserve from Student activities throughout A&M campus: West campus, Blocker, Academic plaza, Sbisa. Also, we used a promotional video (Made by PlanUSA) that we can post online to reach out to more people. We made presentations about the cause in several organizations meetings on campus. We will utilize Social media websites (Facebook, twitter) to promote for the cause. Donating online is one of the most convenient ways to give money. Therefore, we made a profile of our project in this website: which basically creates an account for us online where anybody, that has an access to the link of our projects profile, will be able to donate for it.
