I Have a Dream

1 A Poem Dreams Langston Hughs Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For when dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow.

Discuss:What are dreams? 2 Dreams are ambitions that people have. And they are a path for us to follow. The poorest man is not the man without moneybut the man without dream.

Task 2. Careful Reading ③ ① ② ②

Read the sentences and analyze the sentence structure of each sentence. 1. I say to you today, my friends, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

4. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day.

5 Retell Mr King’s dreams in your own words. He has a dream that one day his nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of it’s creed: All men are created equal. He has a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

He has a dream that one day the state of Mississipi will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. He has a dream that one day his four little children will live in a nation where they will not judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their charater.

Every hill and mountain shall be made low; the rough places will be made plain;and the crooked places places will be made straight; and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed .
