Argument Paper

Planning & Purpose When writing an argument it is very important to pre-plan and make sure that your writing has a purpose. Make sure that you meet up with your team and plan out your Claims,Warrant,Rebuttal and Counterclaim Check to make sure you have a purpose and that you don't lose that purpose along the way

Claim Be arguable- if there are not viable argument on BOTH your side and the opposite side, there is no argument to be made. Be clear - for an argument, the claim IS your thesis. It establishes the focus for the entire piece

Warrant The connection between the support and the claim; shows why the support matters to the claim. Each support point must have a warrant; otherwise, it is not a valid support point.

Rebuttal Your refutation of the counterclaim should not simply be a refutation.

Counterclaim The others side argument should not simply be the opposite statement to your claim but also fight against your rebuttal
