Sample High School E-Portfolios Elizabeth's Health 2 Portfolio Chelsea's Health 2 Portfolio Emma's Health 2 Portfolio

Getting Kids Started Provide a handout with requirements and how to get started Give class time to teach how to create the site and give students a few tasks to complete Portfolio set up Personal bio & picture Portfolio Instructions will allow tech savvy kids to work ahead. (pdf uploaded to AAHPERD drive)

Creating a Portfolio (google site) Go to www.google.com Log in or create an account Go to the tab labeled, "Sites"

Feature of Google: Sharing The share feature allows students to share their portfolios with their teacher(s) for easy electronic grading/feedback.

Feature of Google: Drive Students can upload their assignments (files, videos, images) and store for free online Students can share group projects to put in their portfolio Students can collaborate or ask for feedback by sharing things with peers or a teacher Google Drive app allows kids to take pictures of assignments and upload them immediately.

Troubleshooting Tips Talk to your tech department in advance Some schools use gapps and have a username for each kid or can set this up with google. Give visual instructions on an overhead and have a sample product to show students Have students save their files, pictures and images in their google drive. Create a screencast using www.screenr.com to teach basic concepts and place on your website

Optional Screencast Using Screenr

Optional Activities Peer Assessment Peers share the portfolio with another classmate and evaluate their work. Fill out a feedback form to give to their peers. Artifact Identification & Reflection Practice Students practice matching artifacts to standards/competencies as well as writing reflections with a small group. The activities above have respective pdf files of the assignments distributed to kids. See AAHPERD Drive.

Strategies to Consider E-Portfolio Sign Off Sheet Allows you to grade over time and not all at once. Grading will take time! Portfolio Check #1 Rubric Sample rubric to assess portfolio set up and basic artifact/reflection aptitude List of Possible Portfolio Artifacts a list of assignments that you deem appropriate for the portfolio will help students know what assignments can be used Portfolio Final Rubric a sample rubric used for the final assessment

Brainstorm & Discussion What are some ways that you could use google in your classes? How would it enhance your teaching or impact the learning experience What are some barriers to implementing these apps?
