Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Wrenn Room 220 Week of: April 30, 2018 May 11: International Day May 16: Living History Reports Due May 23: Living History Posters and Costume Due May 24: Living History Museum 2:15 pm May 25: Field Day Most of us have finished reading one biography on our living history subjects. We have been taking notes, and homework this week is to share these. We know that biographies are stories of overcoming obstacles to achieve something great. Ask your child, “Does your subject represent a group of people? How did he/she make a difference?”. Multiples of 10 are the numbers we get when skip counting by 10. Remember to use the properties we’ve learned when multiplying these. The associative property says (5 x 6) x 10 = 5 x (6 x 10). And don’t forget the distributive property! 7 x 10 = (3 x 10) + (4 x 10) Do you know how an electromagnet works? We modeled one in class last week, and this week we will learn a real-life application as we study the invention of the telegraph. Friday we will have a test on magnetism and electricity. A study guide goes home today. Spend a little time going over it each evening. Ask your child questions using the study guide as a prompt. We will start a new unit this week: Fairy Tales. We have been reading fairy tales and noticing their characteristics. Ask your child, “What is your favorite fairy tale?” Check my webpage for information on the Living History Project, including dates and rubrics.
