Which cookie do you like?

Today we are going to learn what’s different about these cookies. One is heterogeneous and the other is homogeneous.

Both cookies are mixtures. Mixture – two or more substances mixed together, but not chemically combined 2 kinds of mixtures

Mixtures Homogeneous – particles distributed evenly; the same throughout Heterogeneous – PARTICLES not evenly distributed; NOT THE SAME throughout

Heterogeneous or homogeneous? Is it the same throughout? Are the particles evenly distributed? Can you easily separate the particles? If you take a sample will it be the same wherever you take it from?

What kind of mixture is Italian salad dressing?

In what kind of mixture is it easier to separate the particles? Independent Practice

Lets’ try some more. Heterogeneous or homogeneous?

Let’s review Explain the difference between a heterogeneous mixture and a homogeneous mixture.
