Presentation transcript:

Putting concepts into action Case Study Activities Putting concepts into action One of the methods we are using in this workshop is small group work on case studies that involve different aspects of monitoring and evaluation and National TB Programs.

Four Case Studies 1. Development of a Logic Framework 2. Indicator Selection Activity 3. M&E Plan Development 4. Components of a Strong M&E system There are group activities that we will work on in the next few days in order to enhance understanding of monitoring and evaluation. First, we will work in small groups to develop logic frameworks to guide monitoring and evaluation activities. Second, we will work on an activity to build skills in indicator selection, using the Compendium of Indicators. Third, we’ll draft M&E plans based on specific country contexts and priorities. Finally, we’ll think about what’s needed to implement an M&E plan with a small group activity aimed at identifying components of a strong M&E system.

1st Case Study Development of a Logic Framework: Randomly assigned groups Case study describes a hypothetical but realistic program Groups will use the new terms and concepts to create a logic framework and present back to the group 2. Indicator Selection Activity 3. M&E Plan Development 4. Components of a Strong M&E system

2nd Case Study 1. Development of a Logic Framework 2. Indicator Selection Activity Randomly-assigned groups Case study describes a hypothetical but realistic situation Groups will use the concepts learned yesterday to develop a framework, then use the compendium and other materials to select appropriate indicators and data sources Groups will report back and discuss in the larger group 3. M&E Plan Development 4. Components of a Strong M&E system

3rd Case Study/Activity 1. Development of a Logic Framework 2. Indicator Selection Activity 3. M&E Plan Development Country Groups Groups should select a component of their program and apply logic framework, indicator selection and M&E plan methods to develop a strong M&E plan to take home as a first step to implementing an M&E plan Groups will report back and solicit feedback from the larger group 4. Components of a Strong M&E system

4th Case Study/Activity 1. Development of a Logic Framework 2. Indicator Selection Activity 3. M&E Plan Development 4. Components of a Strong M&E system Country Groups Using the M&E system checklist, countries will identify two gaps and two strengths of their own M&E system
