12 October 29 - Nov. 2, 2018 Reading: Unit 2 American Revolution Students will read about the American Revolution to understand decisions & choices colonists had to make leading up to and during the Revolutionary War. Skills: Image Analysis, review nonfiction text features,& understanding new vocab 10/30 - Community Ed Class #2 10/31 - Storybook Character/ Historical Figure Dress Up Day The Reef Store @ recess 11/1 - Zoo Field Trip Money Due 11/2 - Diamond Del Gem Mining Adventure 11/6 - Election Day – No School 11/7 - Community Ed Class #3 11/19-23 – Thanksgiving Holidays 11/28 - Zoo Field Trip Some dates are subject to change. Please check newsletter each week for updates. Language: Mentor Sentences Quiz Friday Parts of Speech: nouns, verbs, pronouns and adjectives “Words of the Week” Unit 4 Def. Test Thurs. ambush calculate contribute dread employ extend frantic initial routine stun sturdy yield Math – Test –Friday, Fluency Quiz – Friday (mixed multiplication facts) Unit 3: Multi-Digit Multiplication and Division: (Eureka Math Module 3) Students will continue to learn various strategies for multiplying 2, 3, or 4 digit numbers by a 1 digit number. Multiplication fact fluency is essential for our work in this unit. Please study facts nightly. *** Fluency quizzes are given weekly! Fluency quizzes will be averaged together for one grade at the end of the 2nd 9 Weeks grading period. Science – Unit Assessment - Wednesday Unit 2: Earth’s Processes: Students will complete a unit assessment to wrap up what we have been learning about Earth’s processes. This assessment will be source-based, where students will have to analyze different types of sources related to what we have learned. While it is not necessary to study for this test, it may be helpful to review notebook to be familiar with concepts covered. Storybook Character/Historical Figure Dress Up Day is Wednesday! Participation in contest is optional Students may not wear inflatable costumes Team costumes will not be submitted for contest; Individual costumes only Bring your Turtle Tokens for Reef Store purchases on Wednesday! Social Studies - In-class graded assignment. Test next week. Unit 3: Governing the United States: We will complete the Movement of People DBQ and begin our next unit. Students will explore the early origins of how the United States came to be. Next week’s test will cover events that led to the American Revolution. Students should know vocabulary and be familiar with information on study guide.
