Initiative Background – An Overview As the city is the nerve center of the state, it draws a floating population including pilgrimages and tourists of about 2.00 lakhs, thronging the Central Bus Stand round the clock, throughout the year. In general, people use the open space adjacent to the Bus Stand for urination, which creates health and environment hazard. In order to ward off this menace, many urinals have to be constructed with Borewell, Motor pumpsets, Overhead Tanks which will also cave way for usage of plenty of water. To solve this problem, 20 Nos. of Waterless urinals have been provided in central bus stand as a pilot measure
The waterless urinals are non-porous and designed to funnel virtually every drop of urine through the sealant layer in the cartridge and down the drain. The sealant liquid is lighter than water and creates an airtight seal, so the urine passes through and is trapped. Any urine in the bottom of the waterless urinal cartridge or drain is sealed from the restroom's atmosphere. About Waterless Urinals

Waterless urinals have considerably cut down the usage of power motors for pumping Water to OHTs, resulting in 2% of energy savings in power consumption for Water Distribution in Central Bus Stand. Considerable reduction in carrying capacity of sewer lines by saving water used for flushing the urinals after every use.
From the pilot implementation we have understood that aesthetics of washrooms is one of the major factors for user to consider a toilet suitable for use. Waterless Urinal due to it design science and odor blockage technology help maintain the aesthetics of washrooms. Waterless Urinals are easy to install and maintain. It can also be installed at arid areas were we do not water supply, thus winning the limitation of remote installation. The target science helps us maintain the floor dry and ready to use for next user. If waterless urinals are installed throughout the city it will result in huge water saving and will prevent open urination. Conclusion
