Verbal irony is when a person says or writes one thing and means another, or uses words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of the literal meaning. Dramatic irony is when the reader or audience has more information about what is happening than the character does. In other words, you can see something that helps you predict the next event that is going to happen, while the character has no idea.
