Fun Fishes: the assignment Your fish will be created with color pencils 1 Your fish must be humorous 2 Your fish needs to demonstrate your abilities with layering and blending to create a three dimensional form. 3 You pay attention to and be able to explain your composition and how it works.

Your fish could be humorous as a fish….

Your fish could be humorous as a person….

Your fish might just be humorous as itself.

Your fish might be doing some funny fishy thing….

Your fish might be famous!

What your fish shouldn’t be: right in the middle and flat.

Things to think about How large will my drawing be? Suggested size is 9X12 Maximum is 12X18 What references might I need and where might I find them? (remember not to plagiarize!) What kind of fish will I draw? How can I practice drawing my fish? What kind of humor will I portray? What setting will my fish be in? What compositions methods will I use to create a focal point(s)? How will I keep the viewer interested? Hint: don’t tell the whole story! If my color pencil skills aren’t very strong how can I get better and what should I make sure to do in my drawing?
