Living Local – Growing up Global!

The network consists of 12 Special Schools from across Wales. Ysgol Maes y Coed is the Lead school for the GLPW – Special school network. The network consists of 12 Special Schools from across Wales. Our network focuses on developing and using Digital Competence to enhance the learning opportunities for our unique pupils. Our network chose to work on a joint project based around the Jeannie Baker books - Window & Belonging.

Living Local The books are inspired by a changing environment from a window view- charting the journey of a baby to an adult as well as encouraging people to feel a stronger connection with their communities and the land that surrounds them. The network is initially looking at the immediate environment outside of each school's classroom window- focusing on a local level. The network is using HWB and E twinning to share work across the schools

Going Global Through the further use of E twinning the network will extend the project on a global level.  Links with Special Schools across Europe will be forged and work shared via the E twinning platform. Exploring views from different countries will allow our pupils to begin  to develop their understanding of the wider world, whilst exploring this through a expressive arts and multi-sensory approach.
