altCONTEXT Proposal altCONTEXT accessibility on demand Answers: Call2 - Accessible and Inclusive ICT Instrument: Integrated project, Duration: 4 years Stakeholders: European Publishing Industry (eg FEP, AIE, HP, Editis, Giunti, Springer Verlag, Elsevier) Enterprise Content Management Industry (AIIM Europe), Public Sector Information Networks (eg COSPA), eLearning Networks(eg ELIG, ELIA) Description: Following on from EUAIN, and in collaboration with the Pro-Access project, we want to build frameworks for Accessible Content Processing which will be scalable, adaptable and extensible. These tools and sevices can stand alone or be used within existing or emerging workflows. This mainstreams support for industry to provide a Accessibility On Demand. We will develop an open framework using open standards and tools which employ service oriented architectures (SOA), state of the art dynamic digital repositories (eg. D-Space) and follow open standards (ODF, MPEG4/7/21...) By following object oriented user modeling throughout, we aim to achieve an unparalleled synthesis between the content and the user by embedding the users’ cognition in the content itself . In this way we can meet the ever-changing dynamic requirements of users regardless of the nature or the severity of their impairment. This interdisciplinary work builds on research from cognitive science, AI, eInclusion and information science. In this way we will achieve a radical improvement in mainstreaming accessible information provision in both the private and the public sectors. altCONTEXT accessibility on demand
