PN UNC AMR Topic Workgroup Meeting 14 – Meter Reading Presenter: Michele Downes 1st November 2010

Meter Reading Issues Issues identified at the 1st AMR meeting during walkthroughs of the DME regime process maps ICoSS presentation confirmed the issues are still relevant and proposed possible options Agreed issues; Calculation & provision of estimated reads Deadline for receipt of daily reads (actual or estimated) Backstop where no read provided Replacement of reads (actual or estimated) Limits on volumes Close out of an estimated read where an actual is available

Agreed Approach Agree that the issues identified are still relevant - Complete Are there any other issues? – on-going Consider the options available to address the issues - in progress Use DME proposed processes and amend to describe future AMR processes – in progress Develop appropriate business solutions to rectify the identified issues - in progress Define & collect detailed requirements for the agreed options – in progress Agree & document business rules - in progress Agree & document process models – not started

Objective for Today’s Meeting General: High level Review changes made to the Business Requirements document Continue through document where left off at last meeting (5.3.7) Address outstanding issues/questions Start to identify the business benefits Clarify & gain agreement on; Are all 4 Processes required? Election between AMR processes Transfer read process Detailed requirements: Content of read files (all processes) Read validation rules (all processes) Estimating methodology (processes 3 & 4) Methodology for ‘filling in the gaps’ in read data (process 3) Must Read requirement (Processes 3 & 4)

Objectives for Future Meetings General: Produce detailed business rules based on the requirements Develop process models for the business rules Identify benefits & the rationale for the issues being resolved Gain approval of the requirements & business rules Reconcile with the IRR & the issues identified For other AMR Topic Workgroups: Resynchronisation to Reconciliation Read replacement after D+5 - Retrospective updates

Business Requirements document The Business Requirements document details 4 parallel processes for receipt & processing of meter readings Describes potential business rules required for each of the 4 scenarios based on the ICoSS presentation NOTE: the 4 processes would all be available in the future state; they are not solution alternatives Key changes from the last version; Amended definition of sites that are ‘Out of Scope’ Added a risk regarding the potential impacts on NDM Allocations Agreed standard methodology for calculating estimates for Processes 1 & 2 (“D-7 estimate”) Clarified incentive arrangements for Processes 1 & 2 Removed limit for read replacement (per day) upto D+5
