Proposed Normative Text Changes Concerning Interruptive Polling Month 2000 doc.: IEEE 802.11-00/xxx May, 2003 Proposed Normative Text Changes Concerning Interruptive Polling Author: Matthew Sherman AT&T Labs - Research mjsherman@att.com Date: May 12, 2003 Matthew Sherman, AT&T Labs John Doe, His Company

May, 2003 Purpose Clarify the HC’s ability to discontinue polling on idle streams Matthew Sherman, AT&T Labs

Background A number of solutions desire interruptive polling May, 2003 Background A number of solutions desire interruptive polling For efficiency reasons may want to suspend polling of idle streams CC/RR originally permitted this Was removed from draft due to complexity concerns A number of other alternative are possible Use of null frame as RR for example However no clear indication that HC is allowed to intentionally suspend polling Want to add such an indication Matthew Sherman, AT&T Labs

May, 2003 Motion To adopt the changes identified in document #03/ZZZr0 into the current TGe Draft Matthew Sherman, AT&T Labs
