Use a ruler and a protractor to draw a segment 5 cm long and a 50 degree angle . Then use the ruler and a protractor to draw a bisector of the segment and the angle. Bell work

SLO Students will learn to use a compass and a straight edge to construct congruent angles and congruent segments.

Vocabulary Construction- uses a straightedge and a compass to make geometric figures. Straightedge- a ruler with no markings on it. Compass- geometric tool used to draw circles and parts of circles called arcs. Perpendicular Bisector Theorem- If a point is on the perpendicular bisector of a segment, then it is equidistant from the endpoints of the segment. Converse of Perpendicular Bisector Theorem- If a point is equidistant from the endpoints of a segment, then it is on the perpendicular bisector of the segment. Distance from a point to a line- length of the perpendicular segment from the point to the line. Angle Bisector Theorem- If the point is on the bisector of an angle, then it is equidistant from the sides of the angle. Converse of Angle Bisector Theorem-If a point is in the interior of an angle is equidistant from the sides of the angle , then it is on the angle bisector.
