Kites The kites start as a symbol of freedom from Amir’s past in kaboul Amir also is reminded of his last happy moment with hassam making him feel guilt. Hassan being raped was because of kite that he chased for Amir.

The pomegranate tree Represents the spirit of Afghanistan Before the arrival of the taliban, as the boys grow up, the tree is full of life and fruitful, just like Afghanistan. Om Amir’s return to Afghanistan the tree is dead Just like the country.

Hare lip Hassan left with a scar after an operation to fix his hare lip and is now able to smile Amir however never did see hassan smile after the terrible incident. By the end Amir now has the same scar

Sacrificial lamb Seen as a sacrifice for the forgiveness for god in Afghanistan During assef’s attack on hassan, hassan gets “the look of the lamb”. Hassan sacrifices himself just as the lamb does for people.
