5 Themes Place (differences) – characteristics that make one place different from another. physical (natural) and cultural (man made) Region (similarities) – characteristics that make places alike. Political, cultural, physical for example. Interaction: human- environment (change) – how people change their environment and how it changes them. Location (Where) – where something is absolutely (coordinates) or relatively (in relation to something else). Movement – something is moving. People, ideas, resources. What is moving and how it is moving.

Activity: With a partner, pick one of the 5 themes of geography. Come up with a short 30 second story that tells us about one of the 5 themes of geography. In a few minutes you can read us your story and we'll try to guess the theme you are talking about.

Exit Slip: Think about the 5 themes of geography. Which one do you think has the most importance in your life? In other words, which one do you use the most?
