3 types of tree pests Defoliators Sucking Pests Borers

The defoliators… Feed on leaves aka “foliation”

Gypsy moth Feeds on oak leaves White or brown moth Caterpillar is fuzzy with blue and red dots

Eastern tent caterpillar White line down the center Make webs in the crotch angles of trees

forest tent caterpillar Larvae has blue lines with white spots on back Moth has brown stripe across back

fall webworm Brown stripe on the back with spots down the side Fuzzy Moth is white with a fuzzy head Make webs on the ends of branches or limbs

white marked tussock moth Brown moth with white dot on each wing Caterpillar has 4 tussocks

European pine sawfly Lays eggs under pine

red headed sawfly Red head and shoulders

Japanese beetle Brown back with green head and shoulders

Locust leafminer Brown with black band down the center of back

Sucking Pests…
