Concurrent Enrollment Courses Courses taught at Falls High School by high school instructors that earn dual credit. This means that you earn both high school and college credit for these classes. Must successfully pass the Accuplacer Test (78 Reading, 60 Elementary Algebra) to be eligible. All 10th grade students will take this in late January or early February. Juniors need a 3.0 cumulative GPA and seniors need a 2.5 cumulative GPA to qualify. Student can remain in the high school and stay connected to school activities Attend classes with age-appropriate peers All courses taught by licensed Minnesota teachers in their subject areas Chromebooks will be assigned to each student for the school year It’s a good idea to talk to prospective college choices for post-secondary education to get answers to what courses would be best to take while in high school.

Parents can access student grades, attendance, and discipline online in Skyward Bonus GPA - allows students to maintain a higher GPA while enrolling in challenging courses Parents can communicate with instructor directly through email or phone Concurrent Enrollment courses and high school courses can be taken with ease since both courses run on the high school schedule Opportunity to earn credit from multiple colleges and universities If a student struggles in the college-level course, they can easily be moved into a high school level course and be allowed to earn high school credit for the semester and not be in danger of not graduating Concurrent Enrollment courses run 3, 4, or 5 days a week depending upon the credits just like in a college setting. Students are free to leave the building when they are not in class.

Bonus GPA/Weighted Grading Concurrent enrollment college courses, honors courses, and certain high level high school courses for grade 11 and 12 students receive bonus GPA points. All concurrent enrollment college courses, Honors Math Topics, Chemistry, Physics, What does this mean? An extra .5 GPA point will be added to each course with a bonus GPA or weighted grade. This means that you normally would get a 3.0 GPA point for a B but with a weighted class you would get a 3.5 GPA point. You must earn a “C” or higher in the weighted course to get the bonus GPA points.

NCAA Eligibility Center https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3/ Athletes need to be certified by the NCAA Eligibility Center to compete at an NCAA Division I or II school. Athletes will need to create a Certification Account at the above website. Students who are undecided or plan to compete at the Division III level need to create a Profile Page. Athletes will get an NCAA ID, and will be sent important reminders as they complete high school. The NCAA will request athlete transcripts from the high school when needed and we will upload them digitally.
