Public Management Watch - Description/Purpose Transversal system within the GWM&E system The PMW is a indicator focused initiative that diagnoses the working environment within the Public Service thereby enabling government to implement proactive measures to minimize disabling factors The PMW is contributing towards achievement of the National Goal of ensuring that we have the necessary capacity to deliver on the Developmental State Purpose To improve the effectiveness of the Public Service by addressing bottlenecks in a focused and collaborative manner so as to ensure efficient services. To facilitate a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the Public Service To facilitate a process of peer review

Public Management Watch – Outputs Quarterly strategic reports presented to PCC, G&A and Cabinet: Strategic analysis based on selected indicators – trend analysis Provincial and sectorial analysis based on selected indicators Recommendation of intervention groupings which presents optimal benefits Identification and assessment of the current remedial actions within the recommended intervention groupings Lessons learned through previous implementation of interventions
Intervention It is proposed that the departments in need of assistance be paired with those departments that perform well based on the scoring of the PMW with the co ordination of the DPSA and the relevant Premiers Office and Sector Department. Assess causes of rating Data quality Administrative Management Initiate project to address problems
