Learning through actions, pictures, stories and sounds.
Reading Hear your child read everyday, make a comment at least once a week and initial the reading diary daily. Encourage your child to use their phonic knowledge. Split the word up into small chunks ch ur ch. Use the pictures for support. Some words cannot be sounded out. We call these tricky words. These are words that just need to be learnt.
Writing ‘Have a go’ opportunities. Emergent writing - sounding out words - first letter, final letter, middle letter. Correct spelling for high frequency words. Sentences with capital letters and full stops.
