Fort William First Nation and City of Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Initiative “Fort William First Nation – Industrial Lands” Ontario Joint Gathering Conference May 14-15, 2019 John Mason, CEDC Michael Pelletier, FWFN

On August 16, 2016, the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) selected Fort William First Nation and the City of Thunder Bay to participate in the First Nation Municipal Economic Development Initiative (CEDI), specific to 1100 acres of land situated on the south side of the Kaministiquia River, known as the Fort William First Nation Industrial Lands (Grand Trunk Pacific Lands). Goals for the FWFN-Thunder Bay initiative include: to develop a shared vision and implementation plan to maximize economic development of the Industrial Lands strengthen the two party partnership collaborate on business opportunities maximize job creation recommend/implement key infrastructure development Mining, forestry, transportation, energy, manufacturing service/supply are the drivers!
