The Recalling our Working principles Summer Camp June 9-10 2010 Setting the Scene The Recalling our Working principles A top-down approach backed by a bottom-up buy-in and Contribution Strategy is defined at the Steering Board level bottom-up buy-in through the wide contribution and involvement of Experts from ARTEMIS-IA Members Expert Groups to provide inputs to: The SRA The MASP/RA and consequently to the AWP Support by commitment from the top-level ARTEMISIA Steering Board involved to assure broad acceptance base ARTEMIS JU PAB informed with the purpose of having a “handshake” 3

The Recalling our Strategy Summer Camp June 9-10 2010 Setting the Scene The Recalling our Strategy Supports EU to take a leading position in Embedded Systems By significantly investing in research and development Develops and drives a joint European vision on Embedded Systems based on a Strategic Research Agenda (SRA) for big impact quick to market results Aligns fragmented R&D efforts in the ERA along common SRA at Community, intergovernmental, national, regional levels, and uses EU strength Benchmarks and links with relevant initiatives inside and outside EU Stimulate success by establishing an environment supporting innovation That advises on structural, educational & regulatory matters : IPR, open source software, standards, research infrastructure, education & training… “Self-Sustaining Innovation Eco-Systems for European Leadership in Embedded Systems”

Setting-up phase completed ARTEMIS-IA and ARTRMIS JU and a healthy “ARTEMIS community” Organised, regular and shared approach to research roadmapping and implementation SRA, and annual MASP/RA, AWP Growing number of quality projects running ARTEMIS is a powerful tool to set-up projects achieving critical mass and working towards ARTEMIS high level targets « Think Big » is happening Innovation environment supported through ARTEMIS-IA WGs Tool Plaforms, CoIE, Standards, Education and training, SMEs, “Metrics”: complying with “Self-Sustaining Innovation Eco-Systems for European Leadership in Embedded Systems” slogan

Where do we stand today: Summer Camp Agenda Inform: on the status of the ARTEMIS-IA and ARTEMIS JU activities Work: in “sessions” (Bottom-up approach) stimulate ideas: inputs on MASP/RA structure – ASPs and AWP 2011, SRA Collect opinion: on improvements (content, organisation, ….) Consolidate: key-ideas in the plenary sessions Day 1: Focus on the MASP/RA, AWP Day 2: Focus on the SRA
