One more step toward the rest of your life... Providence 2015-16 One more step toward the rest of your life...

A little about me... Born in and spent the first 35 years of my life in Texas - except for one. My parents divorced when I was six. My mom remarried when I was eight. I lived in seven different places from birth to graduation (including a couple trailer parks)...

Your turn... What places have you lived so far in your life? Which place is the most memorable? Would you like to live somewhere else once high school is over? Where and why?

Family - I have a younger brother (by 5 years) - two step-brothers and two step-sisters from two different step-parents - never lived with any of them - just my little brother. My stepfather had a huge influence on who I became - he was very strict and I became a better person because of it.

Your turn... 3) How are you set with brothers/sisters? Tell me about them. If none - would you like either? Give me details. 4) Which adult in your life has been the biggest positive influence on you? Describe how?

Partners for life In 1994, I met the women who would marry me six years later. We complete each other - one is good where the other is not … a good mix. Have a house full of four legged children - cats, dogs, and probably goats in the future...

School Learning has always been a challenge - failed several grading periods early on and I did not take high school very seriously... I graduated, but did not put much work into it - was not mature enough to understand how important getting an education would be.

Your turn... 5) What is your biggest challenge when it comes to education? 6) When you graduate, what do you believe will be your strongest asset?

My interest mirror my job Many of the things I enjoy involve historic items. For example...

Old cars & trucks

Old tractors

Old guns...

Old places...

Your turn... 7) What is the oldest thing you have? How did you get it? How important is that item to you? 8) If you had two weeks of vacation, and you had saved enough money to go one place, where would it be? Explain why.

Class room procedures - entry Getting started is simple - Process points sheet on bookcase by door Pick up folder (if you class is using one) Get started with warm up question Time is shorter - so time is more precious

While in class... Attending skills Listen carefully to all instructions Ask for clarification at appropriate time Accountability Your work is yours!! Keep all graded work in your folder…I could make a mistake entering grades and grade would need to be confirmed.

Class room procedures - exit Leaving can be smooth and quick - up to you. I will let you know when things need to start the process of getting ready to go. When you are seated, I will know you are ready to go. I will release the class - grab your points.

Your turn... 9) What has been your best classroom experience? Explain 10) Describe your best work environment.

Classroom environment Use your discovery skills: 6 p’s - don’t just know them - use them… Dignity and respect To each other, and every staff member To the classroom To the school To yourself

Drills... Fire: Exit classroom to the left through double doors at end of hallway Proceed as a group to pavillion Tornado: Go to hallway and sit quietly facing the wall Lockout: Door is locked, but instruction does not stop Lockdown: No one answers the door, sit on floor behind teacher’s desk out of sight of the door window. No talking or moving around until the all clear is given.

Now - more about you In order to get to know YOU better, have a series of questions -
