GOVERNMENT!
What will I be doing? We will be creating a “ONE PAGER.” This will be an independent project where you will work at your own pace to review governments but to also learn about three Latin American countries’ governments!
Latin American Government-One Pager A one-pager is a single-page response to a reading concept. It is a valuable way to own what you are answering, reading, and so on. We learn best when we can create our own ideas. Using the text provided by your teacher and your own research, you will create a one- pager for the government systems of Cuba, Brazil, and Mexico (3 total). This will count as THREE major grades. A grade for EACH one pager.
So how do I do it? You will use your ISN and prior knowledge. You will have a GSW for each of the three countries (Cuba, Brazil, and Mexico). You will have lap tops for TWO days (Tuesday and Wednesday) if you need them. PLEASEEEEEEEEE bring in your own colored pencils, markers, sharpies, colored pens…anything you may need!
______ 1. ALL work must be done on only one side of the paper given to you. ______ 2. Write your name and period on the backside of the paper. ______ 3. The title of the section (unit) must be clearly and creatively displayed (ex: Cuba’s Government) ______ 4. Create THREE visual images that relate to the title. Be creative! Don’t limit yourself to the country’s flag, etc. (What types of things is the country known for? Tourism that brings in money? Agricultural products they make money off?) ______ 5. Incorporate main and supporting ideas by drawing a word cluster around ONE of the images. The word cluster should explain the significance of the image to the country’s government. ______ 6. Cite TWO pieces of evidence from a source other than yourself, about the country’s government. Use proper grammar. (Georgia Studies Weekly? Website---you must tell me exactly where you found this evidence.) ______ 7. Place FIVE essential vocabulary/words around the images. These terms should detail the structure of government, key places, citizens roles, president/leaders role, and flaws you discovered as you read. (All words must describe an aspect of the government!) ______ 8. Create an acrostic poem about one historical figure OR vocabulary term found in your study of their government. (The words you use in your poem must describe government!) ______ 9. Create a “What if…?” question that asks how the events in history might have changed if circumstances were different. (You don’t have to answer the question.) ______ 10. Be colorful and neat. Nothing should be left in plain pencil. ______ 11. Use ALL of the space on the paper. There should be no large empty spaces. ______ 12. Feel free to use colored pencils, crayons, markers, magazine cutouts, etc…- the more visuals the more your peers can learn from the topic.
