Summary & Lit Response Three Cups of Tea

Summary Somebody Wanted But So Then

Three Cups of Tea Chapter 1 Example Somebody: Greg Mortenson Wanted: To climb K2 in honor of his sister, Christa But: He got sick and didn’t make it to the top So: He followed Mouzafer down the mountain Then: He got lost and had to stay the night on the glacier by himself.

Paragraph Form In chapter one Greg Mortenson was attempting to climb K2 to honor his sister, Christa. While he was climbing he and a few of his fellow climbers got sick and had to turn around. Greg was following Mouzafer down the mountain, but he lost his way and ended up having to stay the night on the glacier by himself.

Literature Response I think… I notice… How did… I wonder if… What does this story remind you of? What do you think will happen next in the story? What do you like most/least about the main character? Etc.

Sample Lit Response I think it is really neat that Greg wanted to climb a mountain to honor his sister that passed away. In the book he said she died on her twenty-third birthday. I wonder how she died? I wonder if he will do something different for her since he didn’t reach his goal. Hopefully when he wakes up in the morning he will find Mouzafer quickly and be on his way. *Please use at least TWO prompts for your response* *Notice the part in italics—it is important to use direct details from your source to back up your thoughts.
