4.5 Dilations Dilation – A transformation in which a figure is enlarged or reduced with respect to a fixed point. Scale Factor is the ratio of lengths of the corresponding sides of the image and the preimage. Noted as k, if the scale factor is larger than 1 the preimage increases in size. If k is between 0 and 1 the preimage id reduced in size. 0 < k < 1 Reduction K > 1 Enlargement
