Symptomatic bronchogenic cyst in a six-month-old infant: Case report and review of the literature  Birgit Ahrens, MDa, Joachim Wit, MDb, Markus Schmitt, MDa, Ulrich Wahn, MDa, Bodo Niggemann, MDa, Karl Paul, MDa  The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery  Volume 122, Issue 5, Pages 1021-1023 (November 2001) DOI: 10.1067/mtc.2001.113741 Copyright © 2001 American Association for Thoracic Surgery Terms and Conditions

Fig. 1 Chest x-ray film (at asge 6 months) was unremarkable. The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery 2001 122, 1021-1023DOI: (10.1067/mtc.2001.113741) Copyright © 2001 American Association for Thoracic Surgery Terms and Conditions

Fig. 2 Preoperative bronchogram showed a slotlike restriction of the trachea (nearly 80%). The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery 2001 122, 1021-1023DOI: (10.1067/mtc.2001.113741) Copyright © 2001 American Association for Thoracic Surgery Terms and Conditions

Fig. 3 Echocardiogram demeoenstrated a right mediastinal ovoid echo-poor structure, diameter approximately 2 cm, with no blood perfusion. Cardiac structure and function were normal. The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery 2001 122, 1021-1023DOI: (10.1067/mtc.2001.113741) Copyright © 2001 American Association for Thoracic Surgery Terms and Conditions

Fig. 4 Computed tomographic scan without contrast medium showed a large homogeneous structure (3.5 × 2 × 1.5 cm) with fluid-equivalent signal intensity (Hounsfield units 10-20); there was no enhancement by contrast injection. The structure was localized in the middle mediastinum, on top of the heart, ventral to the tracheal bifurcation and dorsal to the right pulmonary artery. Compression of the trachea and main bronchi was evident.
