Figure 6 Epilysin mRNA expression is induced by TNF-α in primary keratinocytes. Cells were cultured in KGM and stimulated with the cytokines and growth factors indicated for 24 h. Total RNA was extracted, reverse transcribed, and analyzed by real-time quantitative RT-PCR (Taqman, PE Biosystems) using GAPDH as an endogenous control. Results are illustrated relative to the mRNA levels of control cells. Epilysin induction by TNF-α was much more prominent in subconfluent (70%) than confluent cells.
