Background Houston School facility is under utilized A change in facility use is necessary Close school and relocate students - not explored as an option Move students to other locations and use site for different program(s) Use facility in a different manner while keeping Houston students at site – current discussion Board acknowledges the parents’ desire to keep students at Houston. Board prefers to make better use of facility while keeping Houston students on the campus. Board acknowledges facility needs at current Serna site.

Benefits to Housing Houston and Serna on Houston Campus Houston students remain at the site Houston families have the opportunity to choose a dual language program Provides appropriate space for Serna students Serna School brings programs/activities to Houston Facility upgrades benefit all students on site Opportunities for additional community activities

2018-2019 Develop procedure for Houston families interested in Serna enrollment Schedule visits for Houston families to Serna to see program Joint event for Houston and Serna communities Identify events/activities that would benefit both schools Assemblies Community events Facility improvements Enrichment activities

2018-2019 Develop plan for one year of transportation from Serna to Houston Identify after school program options Create a Planning Team Houston and Serna staff and parents Review updates on facilities Identify potential challenges and solutions Continue to meet after the move to work on any concerns
