Figure 1 Myc Controls Dormancy in Embryonic Stem Cells and Embryos (A) Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) have rapid cell cycle with short G1 phase and can enter G0 arrest upon depletion of Myc activity. (B) Estrogen deprivation or Myc inhibition by a small molecule induces embryonic diapause equivalent to dormant ESCs. Similar dormant states may also exist in other stem cells such as HSCs and CSCs.
