Comparing calories content in different energy bars Group leader:Muskan Group members:Afsa Jaspreet Khushboo Gandeep

Investigation value Small size Less in weight Contains more calories Take less space and can carry more at a time

Related scientific knowledge Calories is a unit of energy Calories refer to the energy people get from the food and drink they consume, and the energy they use in physical activity Food high in energy but low in nutritional value provide empty calories The more calories a food has the more energy it can provide to your body

How to compare To compare the calories we have done an experiment and we will state the procedure in the next slide We will also state the apparatus and materials in the coming slide And we will show our records the experiment

Procedures Prepare 3 energy bars Cut all the energy bars in 1 gram Burn 1 sample of energy bars and boil the water Check the temperature rise Repeat the same steps for the other energy bars three times

Apparatus and materials used Bunsen burner Thermometer Test tube Clamp stand Water Spatula Weighting machine

Our pictures of the experiment

Method to collect evidence The more temperature of the water gets high the more energy it contains (Meaning): We have to check the water temperature risen the temperature risen that much of the energy it contains

Record (Table) 5° 4.2° 1° Energy bar Initial temperature Final temperature Change in temperature Rank of calories content Nestle (Milo) 3° 5° 2° 1 (Fitness) 4.2° 1.2° 2 Coco crunch 1° 3

Possible Errors & improvement for the errors Not every single piece of the energy bar was completely burned There could be a lots of heat loss due to the surrounding and can effect the experiment We have to keep an proper eye on the bar and make it completely burn We can maintain the room temperature by keep it warm or a normal temperature

Our conclusion Our final conclusion is that the nestle milo energy bar contains the most calories and the coco crunch energy bar contains the least calories and the nestle fitness energy bar has almost the same amount of calories as the coco crunch energy bar.

Thanks for listening to our presentation Special thanks to our science teacher Ms.Chow for helping us in this presentation whenever we needed her
