My spectrum of sensory sensitivities: Sounds/smells/taste/vision ACTIVITY A. YOUR WRITING PROMPTS PAGE 58-59

Activity: How do different sounds affect me? Can you hear the ticking of a clock when trying to sleep? Does this keep you awake? Will you find it hard to study with the hum of the refrigerator? How do tannoy announcements in a public transport situation affect you? Do they frighten you because they are so loud or unexpected? Do you like to make loud noises? Is this satisfying? Do you like to make rhythmic noises like tapping, clapping or clicking your fingers? Is it good to listen to sounds like the washing machine?

Activity: How do I experience different smells and tastes? How do you find the smell of washing powder on your clothes? Do you love it or would you prefer to never wash your clothes and keep your own smell on your clothes? Do you enjoy chewing certain foods? Is there anything that you have to eat every day? Do you have a lot of rituals for food? Have you ever enjoyed eating unusual things like chalk or paper? Do you like licking particular things?

Activity: What visual sensitivities do I have? Do you spot things that no else ever notices? Is this irritating? Do you ever block out things to help you concentrate more? Do you find that you tend to look down when walking? Is this to avoid visual distractions?   Will words blur or move around the page when reading? Is this worse when you are tired or with black ink against a white background? Have you tried using coloured papers when reading? Is this helpful with visual stress?
