Close Reading and Writing What: We are going to re-read the article and mark it for close reading elements. We are going to then write our weekly response together. Why: To model how to interact with the text and demonstrate this is a new expectation for this class.

READING WITH A PURPOSE -Define the argument: what is the author saying? -circle unknown words or words that stand out -underline statements you like -summarize on the side to better understand what is happing and easily locate information. -place a question mark and write the question next to a line that you have a question on.
