Where to find resources School Website Edmodo Recap factors impacting on performance table Introduce Factors Championship Investigate physical fitness factors which impact on performance Consider why speed is a factor that impacts on performance in basketball Issue homework for Monday 9 th September

To enable you to: Complete homework Revise for Factors Championship Prepare for assessments Revise for prelim all classroom lessons and hand-outs are made available online via the school website and an edmodo group. Click here to view the school website Click here to access edmodo, our group code is unique Mr Kennedys group is separate from out group.

Last Wednesday (lesson 2) you completed a task which led to the creation of a Factors Impacting on Performance Table. You MUST ensure that you copy the table into your jotter. You have three options 1.Collect a print out from me 2.View and download from the school website 3.View and download from edmodo

On a weekly basis you will participate in the Factors Championship The Factors Championship will be based around the factors impacting on performance table Initially you will be required to match a factor to the appropriate column in the table As your knowledge improves you may be asked to define a factor or match a definition to a factor

The table opposite lists physical factors that can impact on your performance in any activity. Task In the next few slides / video clips you will see pictures for different activities. Identify in your class jotter which physical fitness factors you think could impact most in that activity. Task In your class jotter match each of the definitions to the appropriate fitness factor. Speed Stamina / Cardio Respiratory Endurance Power Flexibility Agility … is the quickness of movement of a limb. It relates to a performers ability to cover a distance or perform a movement in a short time …is the combination of strength and speed. …is the range of limb movement across or around a joint. … is the ability of your whole body to work continuously. … is working at level that the body demands oxygen continuously …is the ability to move the body quickly and precisely. It requires that you can maintain speed while adjusting your body shape.

Condition Games Yesterday we attempted to play two conditioned games in class 1.After shooting all team members had to sit down 2.After opponents shot you had to allow them to return to own half before you could attack

After shooting all team members had to sit down 1.Why did it disadvantage the team who had just taken the shot? (new defending team) 2.Why did it benefit the new attacking team? After opponents shot you had to allow them to return to own half before you could attack 3.Why did this benefit the team who had just taken the shot? (new defending team) 4.Why did it disadvantage the new attacking team?

Task Answer the questions below in your class jotter by deleting the appropriate option. I am faster than my opponent, so can move away from them and into space to receive a pass. As a team we are faster than the opposition, so we can break up court before they get back. My opponent is able to dribble faster than me with the ball. I cant keep up with my opponent, so he can get away from me and into space. Advantage / Disadvantage Advantage / Disadvantage Advantage / Disadvantage

Due: Monday 9 th September Task 1:Join Edmodo group Task 2: Copy Factors Impacting on Performance table into class jotter Task 3: Explain why speed is essential for successful performance in basketball. Task 4:Chose two other physical fitness factors and explain why they are required in basketball.
