Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Wrenn Room 220 Week of: March 5, 2018 Happy Birthday, Joey! March 7: Evening Conferences March 8: No School, Conferences March 9: No School No weekly reading jot homework this week. Kidbiz due Monday, March 12 We are almost finished reading Because of Winn Dixie. We have learned a lot by following Opal’s journey. Opal learned a lot too—just like the characters in our book club books. Readers follow characters on their journeys and notice how they change and grow. Ask your child to tell you about his/her book club book and what the character learned. Whole numbers can be expressed as fractions. Any number over 1 is a whole number—just think of a whole divided into 1 part! Ex: 3/1 = 3. Divide the numerator by the denominator to find whole numbers like 18/3 = 6. Ask your child to find more examples. As part of our government unit, we are learning the rights and responsibilities that citizens have. This week we will start discussing how citizens can have a voice in their community. We will then explore how people use petitions and peaceful demonstrations. This ties into the persuasive writing we have been doing on our speeches. Share with your child a time you had a voice on an issue. We will finish publishing and then give our speeches to the second grade classrooms this week. It will be great to get some feedback from an audience. Ask your child how it went! Happy Birthday, Joey! March 3rd Happy Birthday, Keegan! March 6th
