IT’S A GIRL Bethany Hamilton was born February 8, 1980 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She is raised by Thomas and Cherilyn Hamilton. Bethany has lived her whole life in Kaui, Hawaii.
The toddler years Bethany is the youngest sibling in her family to her brothers Noah and Timmy. Bethany first started surfing at the age of five years old.
The childhood At the age of nine Bethany won her first surfing competition and won trophies with two new surf boards.
The teen years At the age of thirteen Bethany lost her arm in a shark attack.
SHARK ATTACK On October, 31 2003 Bethany at the age of thirteen lost her arm in a shark attack. The doctors at the hospital took her through many tests and surgeries to fix her arm. It turns out the shark who took her arm was a fourteen foot tiger shark.
The teen years At the age of fifteen she visited Thailand after the tsunami disaster. Bethany also taught some girls from the Make a Wish Foundation how to surf.
In her twenty's Bethany became a professional surfer when she was twenty-one. She continued surfing with her best friend Alana Blanchard who also became a professional surfer.
Family Bethany Hamilton was born to Cherilyn and Thomas Hamilton. The names of her to older brothers are Noah and Timmy Hamilton . Bethany is the youngest sibling to her to older brothers.
Appearances Bethany Hamilton appeared in many talk shows and even a movie. The talk shows she appeared on were Oprah Winfry and Ellen. Once Bethany even appeared in a movie called Down the Barrel.
Awards Bethany won many awards for her talent and bravery. She won a ESPY award for the best comeback athlete. A teen choice award for the best courage and many trophies for the surfing competitions.
