What type of method do we use?

Warm-Up 2 Solve each system using Elimination: 1. 2.

Use GRAPHING when: both equations are in the form y=

Use SUBSTITUTION when: both equations are x= Both equations are y = and you do not have a calculator Or one equation is either x= or y=

Use ELIMINATION when: both equations are in standard form Ax + By = C.    Must have opposites (or create opposites by multiplication) in order to add the equations
