Warmup Define judicial activism. Judicial activism is a philosophy where courts must sometimes step into political and social controversies in order to protect peoples’ constitutional rights Oftentimes, the activism furthers the judges’ own desires for shaping American policies Can be seen negatively as overstepping their boundaries with the separation of powers (legislative branch should make laws, not judicial branch)
