WARM-UP 4/8/16 In your notebook, write and answer the following questions in 3-5 complete sentences. Have Texans improved or harmed the environment? How have they improved or harmed it? Texans have _______the environment by ____________________ _____________________________________________.

Learning Target: We will examine  effects of the interaction between humans and the environment in Texas during the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Language Objective: We will describe ways in which Texans have adapted to and modified the environment and analyze the positive and negative consequences of the modifications Success Criteria: I will create a cause and effect poster that depicts human interactions with the environment.

Marooned on an Island The class was on a trip to Jamaica when a storm forced our ship to wreck on a deserted island that is isolated. We do not have any connection to the outside world meaning no electricity and no bars on our cell phones. We can not swim to another island because it is 100s of miles away. Things we must do: Come up with rules, jobs, leaders Scavenge for supplies around the classroom

Environmental Changes of Texas Your group will research a specific period of time in Texas with a chrome book. (5-6 members) Each group will determine what physical changes happened in Texas during that period. Your group will need to decide if the changes had positive or negative affect on Texas Your group will need to explain why it was a positive or negative affect One group member will speak for their group with the other groups to help them fill out the chart

Time Period of Changes Google search pictures landforms/landscapes of Texas throughout the time period given to you. Look at the changes. Early Settlement-Civil War Reconstruction-1900 1900-1950 1950-200 2000- Present

Environmental Change Poster Once your group member makes it back to the group you will make a poster. The poster must include all time periods and the changes during the period. Write the negative or positive affect on Texas for each time period
