Routines & Lesson Plans Class time will be a combination of direct instruction, independent practice, class discussion, and group activities. Writing assignments at least every fifth class. Monthly Current Events/ Article Analysis Most work will happen in class. ALL LESSON PLANS & ASSIGNMENTS POSTED ON MRS OTEY’S WEBSITE!!!

Homework Designed to prepare students for class assignments and/or extend learning beyond the classroom. Students should expect some out-of-class work in the form of larger projects or assignments to assess skills and knowledge over long-range time period. In addition, much of your reading will be done OUTSIDE of class. No specific “Homework Grade.”

Late Work Students must turn in a “Missing Work Log” in lieu of the assignment. 10% of points deducted for each day late. Parents contacted on major assignments OR when missing work exceeds three assignments.

Make-up Work Responsibility of the student to check Mrs. Otey’s website & “Make-up File” when absent. Student may make-up work on “Intervention” days, but will only receive 75% credit on missing assignments. Work should be made up within one day for each class day missed.

Assessment & Grading Assessment will be a combination of participation, test/quizzes, projects, presentations, and writing assignments. Grades calculated using a TOTAL POINTS system. You will receive a progress report WEEKLY

Math Break! Total points means ALL of your assignments. So if you have 8 assignments worth 50 pts and you only complete 3, what will your grade be?? 8x50= 4000 3x50= 150 150/4000= 37% Know your math and how it affects your grades!

CELL PHONES MUST BE OFF!!!!!! If I see it ----- it goes to prison! Once in prison it will be given to administration and locked up until the Wednesday that follows confiscation!!!!!

Don’t Waste My Time or Yours! No sleeping! Sleeping will result in a “0” You will NOT be able to make up your work!
