Key Leaders Adolf Hitler 3

Adolf Hitler’s Childhood Was born on April 20, 1889 in Braunau, Austria. He was born to a strict father named Alios Schickelgruber and a mother named Kara Hitler While he was in grade school he was not the best student. He didn’t have many friends and most of his grades were below average. At age 16 he dropped out of school and tried to become an artist and applied to an art University in Vienna. He was informed that he was not talented enough to be accepted and spent the next 6 years in Vienna. In 1913 Hitler left Vienna trying to avoid the draft in Austria and was later captured by the police. In 1914 he was in the war fighting. 4

Rise to Power Hitler was able to gain trust between the people him and the people of Germany. When he was released from prison, he started to give speeches about how Jews were to blame for their economic downfall. As he became more well known he slowly rose to the top and became leader of the Nazi party. Anyone that stood in his way would be eliminated, literally!! 5

Rise to Power Cont. Hitler was in politics from 1934 to 1945 when he died He brought to power the Nazi Party ending the previous Weimer Republic. He was a strict ruler controlling every aspect of life and he was a very powerful public speaker persuading millions to follow his laws and plans for the country. He was the Chancellor or Fuher making him the supreme ruler In his ten year rule most of it was consumed in the war he started, WWII During this war Hitler was exposed as the anti-Semitic person he was. He started the Final Solution where he rounded up and segregated “the inferior races” or the non-pure blood Germans. After segregating them he put them in Labor Camps and Death Camps where 12 million people of different minorities died. To gather all of these minorities Hitler established the Gestapo or Hitler’s “secret” police. This would later be called the Holocaust an 6

Death Hitler died on April 30, 1945 in Berlin Germany to a single gun shot to his head. This shot was done by himself Legacy How is Hitler remembered? As a ruler who killed Millions of people. The greatest horror to the Jewish community ever that will never be forgotten Ruining a mustache Starting a war that consumed the whole world and killed millions of soldiers 7

Postwar Status 1920’s Postwar Germany in the 20’s was total chaos, there were multiple governments that continued to fall and rise over time. The economy was in a depression and Hyperinflation was a major problem, to buy a loaf of bread it would cost millions of dollars. This was also the time that the germans were trying to pay back their Reparations from the great war, and they were not happy.... not one bit. 8

Postwar Status 1930’s This was the development of Germany into the Nazi governed super power we all know today. Hitler rose to power and was able to rally the people back together, and mounted the Nazi party at the head, and eliminated the other competition, so the people would have one government to look up to. This would induce Nationalism. He decided to try to occupy the Northern tip of Africa: Imperialism. There were enormous demonstrations of military might, and the creation of the hitler youth for kids: Militarism. He formed connections with Italy very early on: Alliances. This reformed the M.A.I.N causes of the first world war. the second was bound to happen. He also turned Germany away from repaying the debt, to industry, and creating a super powerful army and conquering the world. And in the late 30’s war broke out again. 9
