What is Communication? Communication is the dynamic means of conveying a message for the purpose of creating meaning. It is also a dynamic means of interacting or relating, involving the process of transmitting a message (whether verbal, non-verbal, words, gestures, symbols, signs, etc.) with an intended meaning and receiving the message according to a perceived meaning. Communicating ... the Filipino way... Filipinos have sometimes the tendency to use different words or signs and symbols to convey what they mean. Examples: Question: How are you? Answer: Fine (although in reality this is not true) Uses particular gestures to communicate: Uses mouth to point towards a particular direction Has difficulty accepting a compliment even when it is deserved – perhaps thinking it is not humble to readily praise from someone Hesitates to be direct, especially when correcting a peer or colleague so as not to hurt feelings.
