Communicating ... the Filipino way... Filipinos have sometimes the tendency to use different words or signs and symbols to convey what they mean. Examples: Question: How are you? Answer: Fine (although in reality this is not true) Uses particular gestures to communicate: Uses mouth to point towards a particular direction Has difficulty accepting a compliment even when it is deserved – perhaps thinking it is not humble to readily praise from someone Hesitates to be direct, especially when correcting a peer or colleague so as not to hurt feelings.
