Mindset of Curiosity and Solutions

Service Delivery Model Advocacy vs. Discipline Success for at-risk students requires a "team approach" which utilizes the skills and expertise of the classroom teacher, support staff (counsellors, mental health and D&A clinicians….), community agencies and parents. Classroom teachers are the key providers of support: they identify difficulties, provide curriculum adaptations, develop positive relationships with students and problem solve issues at the classroom level as they arise. The Teacher Advisor acts as an advocate for the student. In this role, the advisor supports the student in the development and attainment of their educational plan/goals (student learning plan).

Pyramid of Support

Assignment of Students Ratio Pairs of 2 sharing approximately 25 students Teacher Pairing Will be assigned by admin after staffing is complete When and how students are assigned 2017 year end Arena Loading (Assigned during Intake) Rolling Intake (Assigned by Kelly) All advisor assignments will be updated into a Google Sheet to track live (This will ensure that no teacher pair is overloaded during Arena Loading) Intake Process for 2017/2018 Registration Grad Plan Beginning SLP (Information sheet) Advisor Assigned/ Introduced

Program Structure Organization Meeting Frequency Minimum: Twice per month Optimum: Weekly Group Size Two teachers per twenty five students Duration Minimum: One year Optimum: Entire duration of time at Central Documentation Student Learning Plan -Upated and uploaded into MyEd BC every term (4 times per year) Student Contact Log – Updated during student meetings (process for sharing TBA) Student Self-Reflections – Completed each term to support goal evaluation and SLP work. Self-reflections will be kept in student files Year End Review – This is a document completed at year end in collaboration with classroom teachers, families, and support team. This will outline successes, needs, and adaptations to be in place for the next year. Team Meetings A meeting to review the Student Learning Plan, chaired by the Advisor will occur in October and at Year End in May or June. This meeting will include the student, parents, and support team.
