Identifying Direct and Indirect Objects in English

Subject: performs the action of the sentence. Verb: is the action of the sentence. Direct Object: receives the action of the verb Indirect Object: benefits from the action received by the direct object.

How do you find the indirect object in a sentence? State the direct object of the sentence and then ask: to whom? or to what? or for whom? or for what?
